Belarusian Beer Chart

Belarusian beers (or Belarussian, depending on your political standpoint) have become internationally available only in recent years. All the beers I have had the pleasure to try so far are from the capital city of Minsk. The top two are brewed by Olivaria and are of incredible quality - Beloe Zoloto and Alivariya Porter. The latter is after all a Baltic Porter - one of the best beer styles on earth.

The remaining beers are brewed by Krinitsa, also in Minsk, and are mostly high-quality brews. I suppose the overall quality of Belorusian beers lies in their range of flavours, such as spices, wholesome barley and even a variety of hops that give an almost chewing-gum flavour. Yet, at the same time, they are incredibly refreshing and easy to drink, almost lacking completely in bitterness or sharpness. It's a shame that countries like this and Armenia, who have a real talent for brewing, have far too small a range.

Very difficult to come by outside of Belarus is the range of beers brewed by Lidskoe in the smaller town of Lida in western Balarus, who also brew a range of beers under the Tri Korolya (Three Kings) brand.
